Super Deals! Awesome Win ;)

As someone who keeps harping about being 'frugal' and using what we have to make the most out of our stash...well, I kind of decided to just go for it!! Sometimes we just have to.

Craftsy was offering online sewing classes and I jumped on board ~ Pant Pattern Fitting  with Sandra Betzina, which came with a pattern that came in the snail mail. I just received it this past week and will be taking a look at it ~ naturally, I looked at the pattern and decided I wanted to alter it to a pull on comfort~fit pant ~ so I'll be taking this one step further...some day ;)

I'm thinking ~ comfort~fit?

I had purchased Pattern Fitting With Confidence by Nancy Zieman at Sewing with Nancy some time ago when it was on sale also...next I needed well, I wanted sewing rulers which just happened to be on sale at a Jo~Ann Fabric and Craft Shop (ended up getting the two of them for less than the price of one ~ made my day).

Fabric!! Since I've managed to gain back all the weight I had lost last year ;(   my few jeans and pants just didn't cut it anymore ~ I couldn't of poured myself into them even if I tried. Soooo off to our local fabric store and purchased stretch jean matterial ( which was on sale ).

Now the fun begins. Fitting the pattern to my body...help!! lol Between the book, the online class, I think I am getting the hang of it...but that will be another blog.

I was super excited when my 6 x 6 stacks came in the mail and the washi tape! Thanks again to The Memory Nest, I had won a $10.00 giftt certificate. Cards for all Seasons ~ simply wonderful.

Projects for all Season!

Now I kept my biggest surprise purchase ~ as it was a totally lucky find and certainly was not planned!
Winners Spectacular Find!

I'm still pinching myself...the other day I went to use some of my Mark It Markers and sadly the ones I went to use was dried out ;(  ~ oh well, no biggy, they certainly didn't owe me anything. I've used them for so many projects....BUT today I stopped in at our local Winners store just to browse ( I was suppose to be looking at clothing) but as usual I always end up looking to see what crafting supplies they have on hand...seriously, I could not believe my eyes. Spectrum noir Alcholol Pens, 6 per package ~ $5.99 each!!! I know! Totally Crazy right? I ended up picking up one of each of the colors they had...I mean a girl could get locked up for passing up such a deal!!

Now, on the other hand, my husband kind of looked at me like I had lost my mind getting so excited about ~ markers. Yes dear, to you they are 'markers' to me they are a drop of golden sun on a very coool October day ;) Markers! Hugh! Really Norm??

I have to be honest, in the end it was my hubby who gave me the little 'push' to make the purchase! Clothing? 'Markers'? Hahaha, like really? Pity I couldn't 'draw' my clothes on me...

So as you can see, I may have been a little behind in blogging, but certainly not for lack of projects in the works...more like having my hands in too many projects and have to catch up! and on that note...remember me saying that I had a memory quilt to make for our little grandson Parker ~ well this is the small pile that I've managed to cut out so far....

Sleepers and PJ's cut out for a memory quilt...some day ;)

Phew...now that's a lot!! Hope I didn't bore you to death with my rambling, but I've been pretty pumped with my finds and now it's time to settle down and start crafting with all my new found goodies. I still can\t believe how lucky I've been lately. Winning and finding deals. Wow!

Keep your eyes peeled for those unexpected finds...

Happy Crafting,
D

ps...and as for the new pic with the nerd glasses ~ when it comes to crafting I like to be able to move my eyes around without peeking over the rim of my glasses AND not to mention that I do wear bifocals/progressive lens ~ but with no lines, the blended kind. I've discovered that true bifocal glasses give me a larger section (depending on the frame size of course ~ thus the NERDY ones!) to see out of AND CLEAR ;)   So I braved it and went for the funky pic. ...and the glasses? Sale!! Great prices at The Glasses Shop.

FYI ~ I don't receive any compensation for mentioning these companies ~ just telling it like it is ;)

Crafty Camper

Sad to say, camping season is over for this year. Trailer is all winterized and stored....but the last week of camping was absolutely....peaceful, relaxing and oh so perfect!

There is something about fall camping that is magical for me. Number one of the list is the fact that most times, depending on where you go, the campsite is relatively empty ;)   At Meacham Lake Campground (which I just discovered I had spelled wrong in my last post!! I'm just nasty with spelling!) that is the most enticing factor for us. The complete tranquility, the sounds of silence, other than nature that is.

You know it's quiet when you hear the approach of a bald eagle by the mere sound of it's wings and nothing else or sitting by the campfire at night ( in short sleeves and shorts ~ in October!) enjoying the crackling of the fire, the stomping of an animal in the bush, leaves crunching under foot and the hoot of an owl, first from the distance, than coming closer and closer. We did not see the owl, but we certainly heard it's call, circling close by.

Yes, I love the outdoors and all that it has to offer. No longer avid hiker, biker or much of any sports these days (not so much by choice ) just walking through the campsite, watching the squirrels running about, a cute little rabbit, a fat toad whose movements are slowed down from the cooler weather?? ~ the birds fluttering about ~ now that my friends is what I call relaxing. Absolutely no demands on your time, what you do and when you do it ~ your choice!

So, what do you do with all this peace and quiet?
...well, Norm loved sitting back, enjoying a beverage of choice ;) and just relaxing, reading, going for walks and catching up in afternoon naps when he felt like it! Taking in the scenery, mother nature.

Chelsea is the best camping dog ever! She never roams off our lot, she stays right by our side. She watches the animals without ever disrupting their play ~ it actually takes her a few days to realize 'hey, this is my space' and will acknowledge anyone going by with a little 'greeting' by remaining laying down where she is or gets up and struts around us! What a pooch!

Sooo, what did I bring along with me to keep me busy...er relaxing? lol

Yes, I always end up packing up books to read and crafts to play with....which these clear containers are so wonderful to pack up a few goodies to bring along. Keep them all together, protected from getting frumpy or lost.

I download free library books onto my Kobo and bring along my charger for it ~ yes, we did not have electricity BUT we did have our generator which we were allowed to run twice a day between certain hours ~ park stipulates that the generators have to be quiet!! I also brought along my little Blackberry Notepad or whatever you call it ~ played games....but back to what I packed for scrapping.

I wanted to make a few file folder mini recipe holders and/or receipt holders. So I brought out my trusty Ultimate Crafter's Companion, used the instructions from Advanced Construction Techniques DVD and made a couple before leaving home so that I would have the measurements to go by at the campsite. Chose the cardstock and everything else that I would require to make a few ~ packed it up and I was set to go!

These are what I made at the campsite, now all they require is a little dressing up ~ or not!
I also had cut out a few more and have them scored and ready to be assembled.

Next came along the crocheting and knitting ~ and this is what came home with me!

So all in all, I did relax, but I ended up getting more done than when I am at home! lol

Guess that is the difference between house chores, running errands ~ mostly for others, and the demands of living in a busy world where you are in constant demand and expectations of what you 'should' do for others.

Fall Camping surrounded by mother nature ~ A1 in our books!

It was a week yesterday that we came back...look how long it took me to get my post up!! lol Mmm, what's wrong with that picture?

How many of you enjoy the great outdoors? Camping or resorts? Whatever your style, at the end of the day it's what puts that little sparkle in your eyes and lightens your step. Enjoy ;)

Back From Meacham Lake

Just a short hello as we basically just pulled in and unpacked the trailer. A wonderful week in the Adirondacks, nothing like getting away in a campsite that is practically empty ~ no electricity ~ no phone, no internet...just nature at it's best.

Meacham Lake is a wonderful campsite to bring you back to nature. Fall colors were beautiful, and we had wonderful weather the entire week ~ well, except for yesterday and today ~ but even to that was fine by us.

Walking through the empty campsite is so peaceful, chippers scampering around, the birds chirping, a little bunny hoping across the path. Squirrels running about, chasing each other, playing in the leaves.

Campfire in the evening, hot chocolate and snacks ~ fresh air and the odd strange noise that makes you very aware that you are in the middle of a forest!

Always love walking down Lake Placid's little main street with the view and quaint shops...a nice little get away.

I managed to knit, crochet, read and a little paper work also ~ yes, I bring my crafts with me, can't sit still for very long ;)

As soon as I get around to it, I will post a couple of pic's although, I really didn't take many.

It was sad to come home but I had a lovely surprise waiting for me ~ I was the link up winner at The Memory Nest ~ so a big Thank You to Leslie for sending me a Gift Certificate ~ I'll be having some fun shopping at the Memory Next for sure!! Sweet ;)  ~ a very nice ending for a lovely holiday.

Ah, back to reality, just makes holidays all that more special.

Enjoyed the great outdoors ~
